To meet the growing demand for passenger travel, the railway authority has continuously adjusted railway capacity. The daily number of trains between Hong Kong and the Mainland has increased from the initial 77 to the current 190, gradually moving towards a more “commuter-style” operation.
CR-Guangzhou has introduced a new product for cross-boundary travel on the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong High Speed Railway, called “Flexible Pass,” making travel between the two destinations more flexible. For trains between Futian Railway Station and Hong Kong West Kowloon Railway Station, the railway authority, based on transport capacity, allocates a certain number of tickets with no seats for passengers to change trains. After making a change once or exceeding the change deadline, passengers can still make three more changes on the same day as the ticket’s validity. As of January 15 this year, the “Flexible Pass” product has served over 70,000 passengers, further promoting the development of a high-quality living circle between Shenzhen and Hong Kong.
With the extension of the “Eight Vertical and Eight Horizontal” high speed railway network, residents from the Mainland and Hong Kong will have more travel options. After arriving in Shenzhen from Hong Kong West Kowloon via high speed railway, passengers can quickly reach other destinations from Shenzhenbei Railway Station, Futian Railway Station, and other high speed railway hub stations.
